Loea

Loea was the sweetest dog and was more like a daughter and sister than a dog at all. She was a loyal, gentle, and loving protector of our family. She loved children and spent many hours playing hide-and-go-seek with them. She also got along with every creature that we owned or fostered in our home including cats, dogs, guinea pigs, orphaned birds, chameleons, and even an entire family of ducks! Loea served as an incredible role model and pack leader for each dog that we added to the family. She taught them how to play nicely with other animals and children, how to listen to the humans, how to go outside to use the bathroom, and would gently scold them when they were out of line. All of our dogs looked up to her for leadership and guidance - she was the matriarch of little our canine family.
Going to the beach was one of her absolute favorite activities. She swam in the ocean, played in the sand, and was a patient student as she listened to her (human) sister, educate her about the various crabs, fish, eels, and assorted wildlife that she would catch and then gently release back into their natural habitats. We always laugh when we recall the one day in the hot Hawaiian summer, when Loea found a dead rat in the yard, proudly trotted into our living room, and placed it on the futon to show off her prize. The entire house freaked out and pointed around the room trying to pass off the responsibility of taking the stinky rat from Loea's mouth. It is the only time that she ever really "misbehaved", but she was so proud of herself that we couldn't even be mad!
We have a lifetime of wonderful memories that we have shared with Loea and we continue to miss her each and every day. She would be proud to be a member of K9 PAC and is our inspiration to join the fight to protect America's canines.
